I like to over-exaggerate sometimes. I realize this. but honestly, this show was the best show I’ve been to. Hands Down.
Usually, you’re standing there for fucking hours waiting through artists who you KNOW you don’t enjoy. Maybe they’re not your genre. Maybe they lack stage presence. Something like that. Then you wait for three hours until, finally, the headliner comes out. you sing. you jam. you go home.
The opener was 1OAK (1 Oakland Ass Kid). He’s REALLY SOULFUL! He’s from East Oakland, CA and really put on a great show. He has natural talent and I was EXTREMELY pleased with his music. I can honestly say, I’ll go to any show he opens for as long as I know ahead of time. He’s worth it and I think, if the right people get ahold of him, he can go really far JUST on talent alone.
Next, Bridget Kelly. She’s signed with RocNation and has worked with some greats. Let me tell you, this woman right here is NO JOKE AT ALL! She has a song where she tells a guy she’s talking to “DON’T you fuck this up” hahaha. that’s basically the premise. But, her best song tonight was her song on drunk dialing some dude she used to fuck with that has a new girl now. And omg, if she didn’t sing my damn life in that song. ha! Again, I will go to ANY show she’s at as well. She’s beautiful, her body is IMMACULATE, and her personality is gorgeous. I give her a 10!
Now…finally…BJ THE CHICAGO KID.
I LOVEEEEEEEEE this man’s music. He is soulful, charismatic, and BRILLIANT with his lyrical content. He’ll sing a girl straight out of her panties like Marvin used to do ha! He performed most of my favorites, including “Freak” from a previous mixtape…but…the moment when he said he’d like to bring out a special guest…and he said Kendrick Lamar…I turned into a gahdamn schoolgirl. I started screaming and jumping and couldn’t even control my damn phone to take pictures hahaha. I wanted to grab his lil ass and put him in my purse.
FUCK! BJ’s set was just awesome. and I can’t even accurately formulate words. Just know, if you didn’t go, you missed out on a GREAT performance from ALL artists…and I rarely say that…
